Paediatrics Unit
The over-arching clinical issue in pediatrics is healthy survival, either of children born preterm or children undergoing treatment for childhood cancer. Large national projects are underway among cancer survivors (lead by the department) and children born extremely preterm. Precision medicine is on the rise, especially in pediatric oncology, in which we are abreast of key advances. Pain management is a central theme in many pediatric research projects.
Rosén von Rosenstein Award
Since 1964 the Swedish Paediatric Society and the Swedish Society of Medicine award the Nils Rosén von Rosenstein Medal to three or four distinguished paediatricians every five years. Two of the laureates are from outside Scandinavia and one or two are Scandinavian residents. The medal is considered as a most prestigious award within paediatrics.
