Molecular life sciences and health technology
Biological and medical challenges require new approaches and technologies. We bring together insights from different fields of research, covering the range from fundamental mechanisms at the molecular level to direct medical applications. This creates a unique environment for research and education.
Uppsala University has a long tradition of research in biology, reaching all the way back to the 16th century. One of our foremost strengths is that Uppsala University gathers insights from multiple research areas to create new approaches and technologies that can be used to solve biological and medical issues.
Our collaborations produce a unique environment for research and education in molecular life sciences and health technology. Our researchers collaborate with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, companies in biotechnology and medical engineering, Uppsala University Hospital and national government agencies for food, medicine and animal health. One result of this dynamic collaboration is that Uppsala has grown to be Sweden’s leading biotechnology cluster, with more than 100 biotechnology companies active in the area.
Molecular life sciences and health technology bring together disciplines such as biology, computer science, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, physics, nanotechnology, materials science och engineering to tackle challenges in biology and medicine.
