The Wallenberg Foundations

The Wallenberg Foundations is the collective name for 16 foundations established by the Wallenberg family. The Foundations support excellent researchers and research projects beneficial to Sweden. The three largest foundations are Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW), Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation (MMW) och Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation (MAW).

There is a wide variety of calls for proposals with different focus and size of grants. The foundations distribute more than SEK 2 billion annually to support excellent basic research and education in Sweden.

Internal prioritization required

Some calls from the Wallenberg Foundations require nomination by the University, meaning individual researchers cannot apply directly. In these cases, Uppsala University conducts an internal prioritisation process to select candidates.

Where applicable, more information about these processes is provided under the relevant call below when the call opens.
