17th Nordic Bronze Age Symposium Visby June 7-10, 2027
Additional details—including the conference fee—will be published on this site, expected before mid‑June 2026.
About the symposium
The first Nordic Bronze Age Symposium was held in 1976 at Isegran, Oslo. Since then, the symposium has brought together a diverse community of researchers—field archaeologists, early‑career scholars, and senior specialists—people who share an interest in the Bronze Age of Northern Europe. The 17th Nordic Bronze Age Symposium aims to continue this 50‑year tradition.
The 2027 symposium will take place in Visby, beginning on the afternoon of Monday, 7 June, and continuing through Wednesday, 9 June 2027. Participants will also have the opportunity to join an excursion on Thursday, 10 June 2027.

Call for Session Proposals
To celebrate the symposium’s 50th anniversary, we welcome a broad range of session proposals—from the history of Bronze Age research to the latest theoretical, methodological, and scientific developments. In short, we invite session suggestions on all topics related to the Nordic Bronze Age.
