On Monday the 25th of May, IKV was visited by a food science research group, initiated by Professor Jean (John) Yong, Brightlands Future of Farming Institute, Venlo, Maastricht University, Netherlands and organized by Professor Ingela Marklinder, IKV, Uppsala University. The meeting aimed to discuss different food applications and possible network projects in the food science perspective. The visitors, including Professor Yong, were Professor Bin Li and Associate professor Si Xu from the College of Food science, Shenyang Agricultural University, China and PhD student Md Nasir Hossain Sani, Dept. of Bio Systems and Technology, SLU, Uppsala. Professor Bin Li is the Vice Chancellor of Shenyang Agricultural University (SAU), and the Dean of the College of Food Science. The Swedish FIKA included the probiotic fruit drink Pro Viva, Emergency rye sourdough bread and a taste test of the food application Råggiberry containing hydrothermal treated whole grain rye kernels. The successful meeting ended with an interesting presentation of the activities at the Shenyang Agricultural University in China.
