Bioprinting tumor microenvironments to investigate pathogenic mechanisms and screen therapeutic responses in breast cancer

About

The aim of my research project is to apply bioprinting to develop in vitro models of breast cancer. These models should better recapitulate the features of the in vivo tumor tissue, particularly its extracellular matrix (ECM) composition and biomechanical cues. They will be used to investigate how interactions within the tumor microenvironment shape cancer cell behavior and influence the efficacy of anti-cancer therapies.

Background

I hold a master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology and my master’s thesis focused on the use of bioprinting to develop an in vitro model of the renal proximal tubule. After completing my studies, I worked on the development of in vitro 3D models of skeletal muscle, further strengthening my experience in tissue engineering.
