Thomas Laurell
Thomas is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Lund University. The main area of research interest in his group is in developing novel lab-on-a-chip technology for separation, enrichment and manipulation of cells and biological microparticles. A central area of their research is to use acoustic forces (acoustophoresis) at the microscale to manipulate biological matter, for example to create label-free non-invasive methods to enrich rare cells for subsequent detailed functional and molecular characterization (detailed genetic rearrangements, molecular profiling, and nuclear receptor signalling). They also study disease biomarker profiling using mass spectrometry and proteomic analyses.
