Biografi
Jag är professor i grekiska med bysantinsk litteratur som specialisering. Efter att jag hade disputerat vid Göteborgs universitet (2001) var jag postdoktoral forskare vid Freie Universität Berlin (2002–4) innan jag kom till Uppsala som forskarassistent. Jag var Pro Futura fellow vid Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study 2006–10. Jag har tillbringat perioder vid École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) i Paris (2008–9 och 2014), varit gästprofessor vid Universitetet i Oslo (2016–17) och direktör för Svenska forskningsinstitutet i Istanbul (2019–21). Våren 2024 var jag gästforskare vid Dumbarton Oaks, Washington. Sedan 2024 sitter jag i panelen för litteraturpriset Runciman Award.
Just nu är jag prodekan vid Språkvetenskapliga fakulteten med ansvar för forskning och forskarutbildning (2023–26).
Mina forskningsintressen rör framför allt olika typer av litterärt återbruk och översättning, både inom och mellan språk. Mycket av mitt arbete har handlar om grekisk och bysantinsk litteratur, särskilt fiktion. Jag är också intresserad i historieskrivning och andra former av litteratur som skrevs på grekiska framför allt under 1100-talet och ofta ur ett narratologiskt perspektiv. Under senare år har jag publicerat översättningar till svenska från engelska, franska och grekiska. Sist men inte minst är jag intresserad av alla former av berättande, inklusive samtida berättelser om akademin.
Under 2020–2024 var jag redaktör (med David Ricks) för Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies (CUP). För närvarande är jag redaktör för Studia Byzantina Upsaliensia, biträdande redaktör för Brill’s Narratological Commentaries to AncientTexts, och medlem av rekationskommittén för, bland andra, Ancient Narrative, Cultural Interactions in the Mediterranean, FABULAE, JOLCEL (Journal of Latin Cosmopolitanism and European Literatures), Scandinavian Journal of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, and Transcript.
