At the Department of Government, you can study political science and development studies. Either within one of our programmes or as independent courses.
Political Science
Modern political science addresses issues of governance with a wide range of empirical focus, theoretical influences and methods. Power and influence are key concepts and at the centre is the state in relation to the structures of society and the living conditions of individuals.
Development Studies
Development studies focuses on processes in political, social and economic change in a global perspective and studies the conditions for sustainable development in different policy areas in an unequal world.
Our programmes
Bachelor's Programme in Political Sciences
The Bachelor's Programme in Political Sciences is taught in Swedish.

Master's Programme in Political Science
The programme is taught in English and has a strong research base, providing insight into different subfields within the political sciences.

PhD Programme in Political Science
The PhD Programme in Political Science aims at nurturing scholars with the capacity for high quality international research.

The Student Office is closed on public holidays and "klämdagar" (the day between the public holiday and the weekend) during the academic year. Usually the office is also closed the afternoon before major holidays. During the summer, the drop-in service is closed and the department is usually fully closed for one to two weeks from mid-July.

Visiting address: Gamla Torget 6, floor 7. If you do not have a campus card, you enter the building via Östra Ågatan 19. Then go to floor 4, walk through the building to the second stairwell and then up to floor 7.

Study counsellor for students with disabilities
