Project description
The cost of emergency care is rising faster than other healthcare costs. Emergency doctors have to make life-changing decisions in a chaotic environment in a short time with limited evidence. This leads to important diagnoses being missed in the emergency department. Therefore, there is a desperate need and huge potential for clinical decision support systems for the emergency department. A useful and evidence-based decision support system for dangerous conditions in emergency care can both reduce unnecessary investigation of low-risk patients (reducing costs, false positives and patient harm) and ensure that dangerous diagnoses are not missed. This will lead to societal savings and lives saved. Capturing a whole new kind of patient-generated data and using it to predict disease is a major development for eHealth globally.
