Questions for Workshop 1 – Integration of basic science and clinical practice

  1. Design of basic science teaching
How should basic science teaching be designed to support both clinical practice and students’ lifelong learning?
  2. Basic science needs from clinical practice
What needs and expectations does clinical practice have regarding students’ basic scientific knowledge?
  3. Collaboration between preclinical and clinical teachers
How is basic scientific knowledge integrated and reinforced during the clinical semesters, and what structures exist for collaboration between preclinical and clinical teachers?
  4. Addressing new findings and progression
How do we meet the challenge of adapting the level of basic science teaching to students’ progression and to new research findings?

Questions for Workshop 2 – Work-Based Learning adapted to the future role of the physician

  1. Early clinical reasoning
How can we introduce sound clinical decision-making already during work-based learning?
  2. Reality versus theory
How do we prepare students to face healthcare settings that do not always align with the theory presented in books and publications? How do we incorporate the patient’s perspective?
  3. New challenges in the clinical encounter
How do we educate students to work with patients who self-diagnose using AI and other new conditions affecting clinical practice?
  4. Sustainability and decision-making skills
How can education prepare students for short hospital stays, rapid decision-making, and mentally challenging situations?
