New postdoctoral programme in SciLifeLab PULSE
SciLifeLab has been granted SEK 70 million in the EU programme Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND for postdoctoral training. Researchers at Uppsala University will be able to host postdoctoral researchers enrolled in the programme.
The newly funded programme SciLifeLab PULSE (Programme for Future Leaders in Life Science) will provide 48 outstanding young researchers with an opportunity for postdoctoral training over 3 years.
In this Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND programme, the postdoctoral candidates themselves select their research topic and submit project applications for international evaluation. They must also identify suitable host researchers at the universities where they wish to work.
“This different approach means that principal investigators at universities will need to describe their research fields in an attractive way to connect with interested postdoctoral candidates before they submit their applications. Of course, we hope that group leaders at SciLifeLab Uppsala will find it interesting to host a partially funded postdoctoral researcher and benefit from these research funds,” says Kristian Sandberg, Co-Director of SciLifeLab PULSE.
The training programme will focus on cell and molecular biology, precision medicine and diagnostics, evolution and biodiversity, epidemiology and infection biology, and drug discovery and development. In the programme, the candidates for the postdoctoral positions can choose between a traditional academic track for basic research or entrepreneurial training in drug discovery.
The first call for postdoctoral positions will open in January 2025, and interested principal investigators can get help describing their research and connecting with interested postdoctoral candidates through SciLifeLab.
