Reimbursement for healthcare and medicine
Uppsala University reimburses part of costs for medical treatment by doctors or physiotherapists, hospital stays and medicine.
Reimbursement for medical care and medicine is a taxable benefit. The tax will be deducted from your reimbursement.
Accounting for health care expenses
Register your healthcare expenses in Primula web (under 11. Wellness subsidy & healthcare allowance), attach scanned receipts in the case. Receipts must not be older than two years. Provided that all the supporting documents have been received by the Payroll Unit before the 5th of the month, your expenses will be reimbursed with the current month's salary.
Accounting for medicine reimbursements
Register the reimbursement for medicine in Primula web (under 11. Wellness subsidy & healthcare allowance) and support your costs with an attached register extract from the eHälsomyndigheten's high-cost database. Your request for reimbursement for the year must be made one time onlly during the year and no later than January of the year following the calendar year in which the costs were incurred.
How to do this:
- Visit the eHealth Agency's website and request a register extract from the high-cost database.
- Self-report the reimbursement in Primula web and attach the extract to the case.
Please note that you can only request reimbursement on one occasion per year and that the case with the attached register extract must have been received by the Payroll Unit in Primula web no later than 31 January after the calendar year during which the costs were incurred.
Physiotherapy
For visits to a physiotherapist, you may receive reimbursements up to 55 SEK per visit.
Medical treatment
You are entitled to reimbursement for medical treatment worth up to 95 SEK per visit. NOTE! Uppsala University does not reimburse visits to assistant nurses/ nurses / district nurses. The receipt must state that the cost concerns medical care.
Preventative health care is not reimbursed by UU. Mammogram, health screening, cervical screening and PSA tests are some examples of preventive health care.
Medicine
Prescription medicines that are part of the high-cost protection scheme may be reimbursed provided that you submit a prescription declaration from the pharmacy that states that your expense is part of the high-cost protection scheme.
Naprapath/Chiropractor
Reimbursement for treatment by a naprapath or chiropractor is up to 55 SEK per visit (maximum 3 times a year) included in the highcost protection scheme.
Psychological treatment
Reimbursement for treatment by a psychologist is up to 95 SEK per visit.
X-ray/Lab
Reimbursement for x-ray/lab is up to 95 SEK per visit.
Mammogram is only reimbursed by a doctor's recommendation, otherwise it is considered as preventive health care, which is not reimbursed by the university.
Hospital care
Reimbursement for hospital care is up to 70 SEK per day.
Dental care
Uppsala University does not reimburse dental care. Surgical treatments at hospitals or odontological institutions are exceptions. For such treatments you receive the same reimbursement as for doctor’s visits.
