Higher Education Diploma and Bachelor's degrees

Higher Education Diploma

A Higher Education Diploma (Högskoleexamen) is awarded after a student has completed courses totalling 120 credits. At least 60 credits must be courses within the specialisation (main field of study), including a degree project of at least 7.5 credits.

Specialisations

The Higher Education Diploma may be awarded with specialisation in one of the subjects that can be main fields of study in a Bachelor's degree. (It is, however, not possible to complete a thesis of 7.5 credits in all these.)

In addition, a Higher Education Diploma can have the following specialisations:

  • Osteology
  • Software Engineering

Bachelor's degrees

A Degree of Bachelor (Kandidatexamen) is awarded after a student has completed courses totalling 180 credits. At least 90 credits must be courses in the main field of study. Within the main field of study at least 30 credits must be courses at G2F or G2E level (in-depth level), including a thesis of at least 15 credits.

The specialisation of the degree is indicated in the title of the degree, which is determined by the faculty affiliation of the main field of study.

A Bachelor of Arts in Theology (Teologie kandidatexamen) is awarded with Religious Studies as the main field of study.

A Bachelor of Medical Science (Medicine kandidatexamen) is awarded with one of the following main fields of study:

  • Biomedical Laboratory Science
  • Biomedicine
  • Caring Sciences
  • Medical Science
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Public Health
  • Radiography

A Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (Farmacie kandidatexamen) is awarded with one of the following main fields of study:

  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences

A Bachelor of Arts (Filosofie kandidatexamen) is awarded with one of the following main fields of study:

  • Aesthetics
  • Archaeology
  • Archaeology with focus on Osteology
  • Art History

A Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics must in all cases include 30 credits in business studies, 30 credits in economics and 15 credits in statistics.

A Bachelor of Science in Political Sciences (Politices kandidatexamen) is awarded with one of the following main fields of study:

  • Development Studies
  • Economics
  • Peace and Conflict Studies
  • Political Science
  • Statistics

A Bachelor of Science in Political Sciences must in all cases include 30 credits in political science, 30 credits in economics, 15 credits in statistics and 15 credits in administrative law.

A Bachelor of Science (Naturvetenskaplig kandidatexamen) is awarded with one of the following main fields of study:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry

  • Wind Power Project Management

A Bachelor of Science (Teknologie kandidatexamen) is awarded with one of the following main fields of study:

  • Technology

A Bachelor of Science (Filosofie kandidatexamen) is awarded with Sociotechnical Systems as the main field of study.
