Degrees

Uppsala University awards first-cycle (Bachelor's), second-cycle (Master's) and third-cycle (doctoral) degrees, as well as a number of professional degrees.

The System of Qualification, Annex 2 of the Higher Education Ordinance, lays down the degrees that may be awarded at each level and the requirements to be fulfilled for the award of each degree (qualification descriptors).

In addition to the System of Qualification, Uppsala University has its own regulations concerning degrees. These regulations specify the titles and translations of the degrees awarded by the University, as well as specific course requirements. The faculty boards may lay down specific requirements for professional degrees. These requirements are part of the syllabus for each programme.

This information applies to degrees awarded on or after 1 July 2007. For information on earlier regulations, contact the Degree Administration at the Student Affairs and Academic Registry Division.
