New student
We are delighted that you have started studying here at the Ångström laboratory. Now the adventure begins! Here we have collected some information that we hope can help you feel at home as quickly as possible.
Your study environment
At the university, we work together to create a pleasant and effective study environment while actively striving to minimize our environmental impact and promote sustainability in all aspects of our operations. Feel free to watch our video on how we address these issues:
Campus management
The campus management at Ångström laboratory works to ensure that your everyday life runs as smoothly as possible here on campus. You are welcome to contact the reception, card and key service and the administration if and when you think they can help you in any way.
If you have a disability
If you need extra support and/or adaptations, you can read more about what we can offer you on our page about accessibility.
Security
On our pages about security, you can read about everything from where the house's defibrillator is located to where to go after you leave the house during an evacuation.
Our premises
The Ångström laboratory is large and it can be a bit difficult to find at first. A good help is the interactive map that is available for Uppsala University. In the search field, you can both write buildings and halls and easily see how you get there. Make sure to get to know the nice premises and study places/group rooms that are available to you as a student!
Ventilation
In the evenings and weekends, we have a saving mode on the ventilation in certain places in the house. Via buttons you can then start the ventilation more, you can read about where these buttons are located on our page on ventilation.
Recycling and environmental work
Here at the Ångström laboratory, we sort all our garbage. You will find recycling stations in many places in the house.
If you need to throw away batteries, there are containers for it in the student dining halls on level K1.
We work actively with sustainability at Ångström laboratory and you are most welcome to get involved!
Copying and printing
In order to copy, print or scan documents on the public printers at the Ångström laboratory, you need a campus card which you then connect to eduPrint, Uppsala University's common printing and copying system for students and employees.
If you experience problems with eduPrint, contact servicedesk@uu.se.
Binding and lamination
Binding of reports, theses and the like is offered by the reception. The binding is done with adhesive sleeves that have a transparent front. The reception also has cover sheets for theses.
Binding costs SEK 20/pc. Lamination costs SEK 15/pc. (max. A3).
Lunch and coffee
In building 10 next to the western entrance is restaurant Rullan. They serve a lunch buffet every weekday from 11-13.30.
A couple of minutes' walk from house 10 near house 2 is also Café Ångström where two different lunch dishes are served every day. You can also buy coffee here. Café Ångström is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every weekday.
Both the restaurant and the café offer vegetarian lunch options every day.
If you have brought your own food, you can heat it in one of the student kitchenettes in the building. In addition to microwave ovens, there are also sinks, source sorting furniture and seating.
