What happens if I want to take a study break?

One of the requirements for a residence permit for higher studies is that the student is always a full-time student. If a student is not a full-time student the Migration Agency might revoke the residence permit. So you can take a study break but need to leave sweden or apply for a different visa.

How do I re-apply for a visa after a study break?

If the student takes a study break for 1-2 years, the previous residence permit will have expired/been revoked long before it is time to apply for a new residence permit, so the new permit will be a "first-time application", so the student does not need to think about how many credits he/she has passed or not as there are no specific requirements to have made certain progress for a new application.

How many credits do I need to take each year to be able to re-apply for my visa?

Upon extending a study permit, the student needs to be both a full-time student, and also needs to have made “acceptable progress” in their studies. Acceptable progress is 15 credits the first year of studies, 22.5 credits the second year and 30 credits every year after that.

I have more questions regarding my permits, who do I reach out to?

You reach out to Permits at UU.
