Step 1: Activate your student account
If you are a new student, you need to activate your student account. You can activate your account a few days after receiving your final admission decision.
The student account gives you access to the student gateway (uu.se/student), the University's network, printing systems and a variety of services that you need for your studies. You will be able to log in to the learning platform Studium and the student records system Ladok.
Students without a Swedish personal identity number
If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number, you can use one of the options below to activate your account.
Option 1: Freja Extended
You can use the app Freja eID to verify your identity. Please note that there are different versions of Freja eID available for ID verification in the app. If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number, you should use Freja Verified with ID Document (Freja Extended).
Once you have downloaded the app to your mobile phone, you must create and verify an account. The identity verification is then done by uploading your passport in the app. In the app, you will find information about which countries are connected to the app. Once you have authenticated yourself with the Freja eID app you can activate your student account at Uppsala University.

Option 2: Pick up a one-time passcode
If you are currently in Sweden you can pick up a one-time passcode by visiting one of our campuses. You can also do this if you are arriving during the recommended arrival days in Uppsala and Visby.
Bring your passport, or if you are an EU citizen you can bring your national ID card. You will be given temporary login details and must activate your account online within a couple of hours.
Option 3: Receive a one-time passcode via the IT support
If you cannot to retrieve the one-time passcode in Uppsala or Visby, you can receive the code by post to your home address.
Email the university's IT support to request an identity verification to activate your student account. The email needs to include the following documents:
- A copy of your valid identity document (e.g. passport or an EU national ID card)
- A copy of a utility bill addressed to you, for example, a phone bill, rent or similar that can confirm your home address. The bill cannot be older than six months.
When IT Support has verified your identity they will send your one-time passcode and instructions for activating your student account to your home address. You will receive an email informing you when your one-time passcode is on the way.
If you have any questions, please contact IT Support for assistance.
