Arriving in Uppsala

We have a Welcome Centre set up in Uppsala, in the Segerstedt Building.

When? The Welcome Centre will be open on the Arrival Day 16 January 2025, between 10:00 and 21:00.

Where? The Segerstedt Building is located at Dag Hammarskjölds väg 7.

How? If you arrive at Uppsala Central Station and want to avoid the walk up the hill past the castle, take bus number 11. The bus departs from bus stop E1, located outside the Radisson BLU hotel. It will take you to the bus stop Segerstedthuset (C).

Please note that you can not use a student discount until you have your Swedish student ID. For more information about local buses, see the details below.

What? Services at the Welcome Centre include:

• Uppsala University Housing Office for keys and contracts for most housing areas (only for students who have been offered housing through the Uppsala University Housing Office)
• Welcome packages
• Shuttle services to housing areas
• Student account activation (requires formal ID, take your passport with you)
• Temporary student ID

Staff from the Housing Office and the International Office, as well as student volunteers, will be on hand at the Welcome Centre.

Arriving on another day?

You are warmly welcome to visit the Service Centre in the Segerstedt Building during its ordinary opening hours to pick up your welcome folder and student account details.

Taking the bus in Uppsala

Uppsala’s local buses are operated by Uppsala Lokaltrafik (UL). You can purchase tickets using the UL app, via ticket machines at select bus stops and train stations, or directly on the bus with a credit card.

The UL app allows you to buy both single and period tickets, and you can pay with a debit/credit card or through the Swedish payment service Swish.

Please note that you can not use a student discount until you have your Swedish student ID.
