Region Uppsala's 2023 Research Prize goes to Anna Bill-Axelson

Professor and senior consultant Anna Bill-Axelson, is praised as a world-leading authority in prostate cancer and she leads several large international randomized multicenter studies that have attracted great attention and influence clinical practice today
Anna Bill-Axelson has also conducted a large number of important epidemiological studies in prostate cancer but also bladder cancer where she, among other things, examined the risk of suicide after a cancer diagnosis and examined how quality of life is affected.
She supervises several PhD students and is part of the National Board of Health and Welfare's expert group for evaluation of PSA screening.
Anna Bill-Axelson started a podcast for men with prostate cancer in 2016 to empower patients through increased knowledge, the podcast has over 26,000 downloads.
She has an impressive track record with multiple publications in top scientific journals, including five publications in the New England Journal of Medicine and two in Lancet Oncology.
The prize is SEK 10 000.
