Honorary Doctor and Visiting Professor in the Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University, Sweden.
I have been associated with Uppsala University since 1997 when I spent my research leave for a year. I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Social Science by Uppsala University in January 2017 in recognition of my 20 years collaboration with the Department of Business Studies.

Professor Sylvie Chetty is currently a visiting professor at Uppsala University, Gothenburg University and University of Eastern Finland.
Sylvie has worked in Iran, South Africa, Swaziland and New Zealand. She was the Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship at University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. She was the Principle Investigator in the Effectuation and Networking project funded by the Royal Society of New Zealand, Marsden Fund. She has held academic positions at Massey, Canterbury and Victoria universities in New Zealand. While working at Victoria University she joined the Competitive Advantage New Zealand project which was funded by the Foundation for Research Science and Technology. This project studied how firms from small open economies such as New Zealand developed their capabilities and competitive advantage. She extended this project to include Swedish, Danish and Finnish firms.
Sylvie's research interests are in the internationalisation of firms, export performance, business networks and social capital. She has been associated with Uppsala University since 1997 when she spent her study leave at Uppsala University for a year.
Sylvie has published widely in the international business/international marketing area in such journals as Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, Entrepreneurship, Theory and Practice, Regional Studies, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of International Marketing, International Business Review, International Small Business Journal, European Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, as well as several chapters in edited books.
