Ended - Bilateral research cooperation in Cambodia
The overall objective of the research cooperation in Cambodia was to enhance the university´s capacity to develop and sustain quality research and innovation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that contributed to the development needs of Cambodia.
The Swedish bilateral research cooperation with Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) started with a pilot phase in 2019. The programme phase was for five years, from 1 January, 2019 to 31 December, 2024, and no extension was granted.
ISP core programme takes over, with Sida-funding, the remaining PhD students.

The Sida programme was built on previous ISP core support to chemistry, mathematics, and physics at RUPP, but was expanded at Faculty of Science to include the Departments of Biology and Environmental Science.
It also covered Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Department of Bioengineering at Faculty of Engineering, and the university’s general support systems including financial administration.
ISP had the task to coordinate the scientific cooperation, Spider at Stockholm University coordinated the ICT part.
Research areas in the programme:
- ICT (coordinated by Spider)
- Science (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics)
- Bio-Engineering
The Swedish partners in the bilateral programme:
- Linköping University
- Lund University
- Stockholm University
- Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences
- Umeå University
- Uppsala University
