Bilateral research cooperation in Tanzania

Main focus in the research cooperation in Tanzania is to build and strengthen research and innovation systems for inclusive development in the country.

The Swedish bilateral research support to Tanzania started in 1986. Today the phase covers support to two universities and one agency:

• University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM)
  
• Muhambili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS)
• Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH)

The agreement period, from 1 July, 2015 to 30 June, 2020, is extended until 31 March 2024.

The emphasis for this program phase is on the development of local PhD programs in Tanzania.
