Bilateral research cooperation in Tanzania

Main focus in the research cooperation in Tanzania is to build and strengthen research and innovation systems for inclusive development in the country.

The Swedish bilateral research support to Tanzania started in 1986. Today the phase covers support to two universities and one agency:

The agreement period, from 1 July, 2015 to 30 June, 2020, is extended until 31 March 2024.

The emphasis for this program phase is on the development of local PhD programs in Tanzania.

  3. Health systems, HIV, tuberculosis (TB), malaria and neglected tropical diseases

  10. Road traffic injury prevention
  11. Smart grid capacity
  12. Sustainable sanitation and sustainable water resources
