Equipment
Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability has funded a number advanced equipment for testing at relevant, demanding and application-mimicking conditions that complement the equipment that was already available at the two tribology groups. Also equipment for advanced materials analysis with techniques that push the boundaries of what is possible.
Two nodes of equipmet
WiseEST has two nodes and has equipment and extensive experience in both tribological testing and materials analysis. More information about the nodes can be found at the two nodes.
- Uppsala node: The Tribomaterials group at Uppsala University
- Luleå node: Machine Elements Division at Luleå Technical University

Tribological testing equipment at Uppsala University
- Instrumented climate chamber, Tribolab UU - Versatile testing in highly controlled environments.
- Simulated engine rig, Tribolab UU - Testing of engine components in new fossil free fuels.
- In-situ tribo-mechanism rig, Myfab laboratory at UU - Small scale wear and friction experiments in-situ in an SEM.
Materials analysis equipment at Uppsala University
- Scanning AES, Myfab laboratory at UU - Extremely surface sensitive chemical analysis at high energy resolution, high lateral resolution and allowing depth profiling.
Luleå University of Technology has procured the following test equipment through WiseEST, Tribotesting equpment, LTU
