The head and neck area is one of the most complex parts when it comes to anatomy and function.

The head and neck area is one of the most complex parts when it comes to anatomy and function. The area includes many vital structures that affect our quality of life such as sensory organs for hearing, balance, smell and taste, as well as breathing, swallowing, voice and facial mimicry and sensory. These functions can be affected both by diseases and by the treatment.

Research in the field of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck surgery includes basic research that strives for increased understanding of organ anatomy and function as well as clinical treatment studies. The basic purpose is to increase knowledge about diseases and their course to improve treatment for the individual patient.
