Find the Special Collections Reading Room
The Special Collections Reading Room has moved to a room at the 3rd floor
Due to renovation, the Special Collections Reading Room has temporarily moved to a room on the 3rd floor (the floor below the entrance level). For access to the lift, please ask at the information desk on the ground floor.
Note that the temporary room:
- has a limited number of seats. For the best chance of getting a seat, please arrive when the reading room opens.
- is not open during evening hours.
Plan your visit
- You do not need to make an appointment to visit the Special Collections Reading Room, but you do need to request in advance the material you wish to study.
- To visit the Special Collections Reading Room, you must have a library account at Uppsala University Library.
- On your first visit, you are required to show proof of identity.
- The Special Collections Reading Room does not always have the same opening hours as the rest of Carolina Rediviva.
Code of conduct for the Special Collections Reading Room
- The Special Collections Reading Room is a silent reading room.
- No bags, tote bags, coats or other outer garments may be brought in. There are storage lockers in the café area on the entrance floor of Carolina Rediviva. See where the lockers are located.
- Drinks, food or other snacks are not allowed.
- Only pencils are allowed in the Special Collections Reading Room. Pencils can be borrowed on site.
- You may take photos (without flash and shutter sound). Tripods, scanners or hand-held scanners are not allowed.
- If your checked-out material has not been used for 30 days, it will be recalled.
