Request items from the Special Collections
To study material from our Special Collections, you can request that items be brought to the Special Collections Reading Room at Carolina Rediviva.
In some of our catalogues, you can order within the catalogue itself. Items which are found in Alvin, or which cannot be requested in a catalogue, are requested via an order form. Some older books can be found in the Library Search Tool.
- You need a library account to request items in The Library Search Tool.
- Please make your request a day or two in advance.
- We can only guarantee the delivery of five items per delivery and borrower.
- You will usually only be notified if the items cannot be obtained.
- Requested items remain available for pickup for eight days from the request date.
Request items via a catalogue
In some of our catalogues, you can request items via the catalogue itself. These catalogues are marked "Items are requested directly from the catalogue".

Choose this option if you would like to request an item from Alvin or from one of the catalogues which lacks a request function.
