Information about mobility to and from the UK
How the university's mobility initiatives are affected
Since Brexit, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the Erasmus programme. In short, this means the following for the university's mobility work:
- Uppsala Univerity must enter into bilateral agreements* in order to continue offering students and staff exchanges at British universities.
- Students and staff who participate in an exchange between Sweden and the UK
- cannot receive Erasmus+ grants.
- may need to obtain a visa.
*We already have bilateral agreements with several higher education institutions outside the EU, for example in Australia and the US. Such agreements enable students at UU to study free of charge at partner universities across the globe for one or two semesters.

Information regarding EU citizens
As of 2021, EU citizens planning to study in the UK for more than six month and who are not already resident in the country need to apply for a student visa before beginning their studies.
