Students at Campus Gotland - autumn 2024
Welcome to Uppsala University and Visby! On this page, we give some tips for you who will study at Campus Gotland this autumn.
Soon you will join us in Sweden, Gotland and Visby and get ready for your studies and student life. We are looking forward to your arrival and hope you are too!
The autumn semester starts Monday 2 September and ends Friday 17 January 2025. More dates in our checklist for new students.

Activate account and register
In the beginning of August, as a new student at the University, you can activate your student account and register for your courses, On the University’s general welcome page for new students, you’ll get information on how you as a new student activate your student account and how to register for your courses.
Information sessions online Mid-August
Each new academic year, the University holds a number of information sessions online for new international students, to help you prepare for your studies and life in Sweden. Programme for the information sessions 26-29 August 2024.
Arrival Days – 28-29 August
28 and 29 August, we offer a welcome service and shuttle service for new students at Visby airport and Visby ferry terminal for certain flights and ferry arrivals. Our student hosts will greet you at the terminals and drive you in a minivan to your accommodation. Some waiting may occur when many students arrive at the same time. Register here for the shuttle service. More details about which flights and ferry arrivals are available in the registration form.
If you arrive outside the official Arrival Days, do not worry. It's not far between Visby airport and Campus Gotland (directions in Google maps) and it is a 10-minute walk between the ferry terminal and campus (directions in Google maps).
Welcome Centre in the Reception
From 20 August, you are warmly welcome to visit the Student Services to pick up your welcome folder, student account details and Campus Card. The Student Services is located in the Reception at Campus Gotland, Cramérgatan 3, and has its regular opening hours from 08:00 to 16:30 Monday – Thursday, and 08:00 to 15:30 Fridays. Services will include:
- Welcome package
- One-time passcode for the student internet account (requires formal ID, bring your passport)
- Campus Card – once you have been notified by email that it is ready for pickup
Orientation Day and more welcome activities
Orientation Day 30 August
All new international students are invited to the Orientation Day, Friday 30 August, 09:00 to 12:30 in the campus restaturant 'Maltfabriken' at Cramérgatan 3, the campus main entrance. We recommend everyone to participate!
The Orientation Day programme is designed to welcome and introduce international students to Uppsala University – Campus Gotland.
Programme:
09:00 to 10:30 Short presentations with practical information about activities by staff and current students, about learning Swedish, and a break with 'fika' (coffee/tea).
10:30 to 12:30 You will be assigned a smaller group for a campus tour, including for example the library and the student union. Current students will be available for questions.
In the afternoon, the Study Administration's office in the D building has extended drop-in hours, 13:00 to 15:30, with IT support also on hand.
Tours and lectures
We arrange a number of activities for new students between 31 August and 22 September. These will include guided tours in medieval Visby, a history lecture, a tourist train tour, and a bus trip. In the first week of October, we organise a small fair called StudentExpo with the campus support services and others. More information about welcome activities.
Welcome reception 2 September
The welcome reception for all new students at Campus Gotland will be held in the afternoon on Monday 2 September in St. Nicolai ruin in Visby. The reception will include a formal welcome ceremony. More information about the welcome reception.
Other welcome activities
Welcoming activities are also organised by the Gotland Student Union RIndi, starting in the beginning of September. Read more about Lamningen ('the lambing').

On 2 September, there will be a Welcome Reception for all new students at Campus Gotland.

Current student? Welcome back!
If you are a current student at Uppsala University and if you have been admitted to one or more of our courses autumn semester 2024, you may register for your courses from 25 July. If you have problems to register, please contact Student Services at Campus Gotland.
It is of most importance that you get registered in time in order to not risk losing your place. Please note that different courses may have different periods of registration.
