Chemistry groups in Burkina Faso
ISP Chemistry supports the following research groups at University Joseph Ki-Zerbo (formerly known as University of Ougadougou):
- Antifungal agents formulation from local plants in view of crop protection and ensuring food security
- Physiochemical characterisations and purification of surface water and groundwater in some localities in Burkina Faso
Antifungal agents formulation from local plants in view of crop protection and ensuring food security
The support started 2008 as a pilot grant to the Department Chemistry, University Joseph Ki-Zerbo, coordinated by Professor Yvonne L. Bonzi-Coulibaly. In 2023, she retired and was replaced by Dr Jean Claude Ouédaogo.
Objectives
The overall goal is to build scientific and technical competence to obtain antifungal formulation based on plants for agricultural crops protection. The studies aim to valorize all part (leaves, stems, roots) of local plants in order to formulate antifungal extracts for agricultural crops protection.

Physiochemical characterisations and purification of surface water and groundwater in some localities in Burkina Faso
The support started 2008 as a pilot grant to the Department of Chemistry, University Joseph Ki-Zerbo. From 2011, the research group is supported and the activities are coordinated by Dr Boubié Guel.
Objectives
The overall goal is to contribute to the development of the quest for simple, low-cost and high-performance water purification processes using natural clay minerals from Burkina Faso for the removal of some heavy metals cat ions and arsenic compounds.
