Physics groups in Nepal
ISP physics supports one research group in Nepal:
- Atmospheric and materials science research at Tribhuvan University
Atmospheric and materials science research
This research project at Tribhuvan University started to receive ISP support in 2021. The project coordinator is Dr Shriram Sharma.
Objectives
Amrit Campus, a campus of Tribhuvan University, is the first science campus
founded in Nepal and many prominent personalities of Nepal have graduated here. The Atmospheric and Material Science Research Group (AMSRG) at Amrit Campus, works in the fields of atmospheric phenomena and materials science.
In the field of atmospheric research, lightning activities are being studied in association with other meteorological and climatic variables to understand their impacts on climate change.
Research is also carried out in the field of materials science both experimentally and computationally. The target of the studies are metal oxide semiconductors (MOS) such as ZnO, TiO2, SnO2 etc which are promising materials for the realization of future low cost, low power consuming, highly sensitive and stable gas sensors.
