Project Summary

Prof. Tenje was selected Wallenberg Academy Fellow in 2016 on a project focused on developing organs-on-chip models of biological barriers, building upon her expertise in microfabrication and microfluidics. During this project, her team has specifically built expertise in two-photon polymerisation (2PP) of hydrogels for 3D cell cultures.

In 2021, Prof. Tenje was granted a Prolongation grant to develop an acoustofluidic toolbox to realise the next generation of in vitro glioblastoma models based on human cerebral organoids. To achieve this, the lab will expand the droplet acoustofluidic technology that she has developed to realise non-contact methods capable of controlling the position of cells in droplets by the use of integrated acoustics and combine this with 2PP fabricated structures.
