The research group of Infection Medicine aims to generate new knowledge that can contribute to better and more individualized treatment for future patients. The research topic covers infections caused by bacteria, viruses and zoonoses (infectious diseases that spread from animals to humans).

Description of our research

Our research is translational and includes clinical studies with patients and healthy volunteers as well as animal studies, laboratory studies and investigations of health data and registry data. Most of our researchers work as infectious disease physicians at the Uppsala University Hospital. Consequently, the projects are designed to answer urgent medical needs, and the results of the research can be efficiently communicated and implemented in health care.
