Short presentation

Researcher in infectious diseases at Akademiska Hospital and Uppsala University, specialising in microbial genomics, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and pathogen evolution. My work includes public health-related clinical projects, such as periprosthetic joint, blood, and burn infections, with a focus on AMR. I also study how urbanisation and human activities affect the microbiomes of wild birds and the spread of AMR in natural populations.

Research

My research focuses on clinical public health projects, including periprosthetic joint, blood, and burn infections. I also study the role of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in sewage and wastewater treatment plants, investigating how these environments contribute to the spread of resistant bacteria and impact public health. Additionally, I explore how urbanisation and human activities affect the microbiomes of wild birds, focusing on the spread of AMR in natural populations. My work highlights the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, addressing AMR from a One Health perspective.

At Uppsala University, I also collaborate as an associate researcher with the University of Arizona, focusing on Campylobacter infections in Peru. This research examines the genetic epidemiology of Campylobacter, aiming to understand its transmission and impact in low- and middle-income countries, contributing to global efforts to control infectious diseases and AMR.
