The Pääbo Circuit is an approximately eight-kilometre-long cycle route that connects the University’s various campuses across the city. The circuit was created when Nobel laureate Svante Pääbo was named Alumnus of the Year 2023.

During his years as a student and researcher in Uppsala, Pääbo cycled daily between the various university campuses. All the subject knowledge he needed was within cycling distance.

The Pääbo Circuit is a path that reflects both the breadth of the University and Svante Pääbo’s own interdisciplinary journey, which was recognised with the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2022.

“The circuit can serve as an illustration of the importance of trusting your idea and vision, even when others think you’re way off the mark.”
– Vice-Chancellor Anders Hagfeldt
