Ways you can collaborate with Uppsala University
Commissioned research
Commissioned research is carried out on behalf of another actor, for example a company, a government agency or an organisation, that wants answers to a specific problem or to develop something new. Contract research often has a practical focus and a clear objective. It is therefore different from independent research, where the researcher chooses the topic and aim of the project.
Research in collaboration
Research in collaboration with researchers and actors outside academia, such as companies, central government agencies, municipalities or civil society organisations. All parties contribute knowledge, experience and perspectives. The aim is to produce relevant and useful knowledge. This kind of research is often funded jointly or through a third party.
Strategic partnerships
Long-term collaborations with companies and organisations. The goal is to benefit the broader community and contribute to innovation while strengthening the University’s research and education. Such partnerships can cover a wide range of activities, such as projects, guest lectures and externally employed doctoral students.
Collaboration with schools, preschools and the public
Collaboration with preschools and schools through continuing education, shared meeting places and research. Activities for children and pupils and resources that can be used in teaching in these settings are also offered. The public is welcome to visit our museums, come on study visits, or participate in education and outreach activities.

Student projects and degree projects
Many students want to collaborate with companies and organisations to undertake their projects, placements or get their first job. Employers can participate in career fairs, hire student consultants or place free advertisements for employees with the most up-to-date skills.
Alumni activities
Alumni networks for former students and staff who want to stay in touch with the University and each other. Through various associations and international groups, activities such as continuing professional development, reunions, mentoring programmes and social events are offered.
