Collaboration with the public sector
The University collaborates with municipalities, regions and government agencies to support social development. The University contributes knowledge, analysis and expertise through joint research projects, policy papers, placements and continuing education.
Such collaboration is based on mutual exchange and long-term relationships, where academic expertise responds to practical needs in the public sector. The aim is to create concrete benefits to society and provide support in decision-making through evidence-based knowledge.

Politikerfrukost – breakfast with politicians
Breakfast with politicians (politikerfrukosten) is a recurring event where the University invites politicians from the municipal, regional, national and European levels to conversations over breakfast. The aim is to create an open arena for dialogue on current social challenges and opportunities for collaboration. Meeting in an informal format encourages sharing knowledge and building relationships that can strengthen both the relevance of research and the evidence base for policy. The breakfast meetings provide the University with the opportunity to highlight ongoing projects and contribute expertise, while giving politicians an insight into academic work and questions about the future.
Almedalsveckan
During Almedalsveckan (Almedalen Week), the University is an active player in public debate. It holds its own seminars, which highlight current research and the University’s role in meeting social challenges. Researchers also participate in talks and panels organised by other organisations, creating opportunities for broad collaboration and knowledge sharing. Almedalen is an important platform for highlighting the University’s expertise, building relationships with decision-makers, and contributing evidence-based perspectives to political and strategic discussions.
Uppsala University collaborates with schools and preschools to strengthen the teaching and spark children’s and young people’s curiosity about science. Teachers, researchers and students develop together through continuing education, workshops and placements/internships.
The University responds to consultations from primarily the Government Offices of Sweden and other government agencies. The purpose of consultations is to obtain the views of stakeholders on the potential impact of a proposal if implemented, and to promote broad participation in public debate.
