Schools, preschools and the public

Uppsala University collaborates with schools and preschools to strengthen their teaching and spark children’s and young people’s interest in science. Through continuing education, workshops and shared meeting places, teachers in the school system have the opportunity to develop their skills in close contact with current research. The University also collaborates with selected schools and preschools where teacher education students carry out their placements, creating a natural connection between theory and practice.

Children and pupils are offered activities such as experiment workshops, science festivals, schools programmes in museums, and digital resources that can be used in the classroom. The aim is to make research accessible and inspiring from an early age.

The public is invited to share in the University’s knowledge through public lectures, exhibitions, study visits and events. Museums such as the Museum of Evolution, Gustavianum and the Ångström Explanatorium offer both permanent and temporary exhibitions focusing on science and history.

Through these partnerships, the University contributes to lifelong learning and a more knowledge-based society where research and education are accessible to all – regardless of age or background.
