Molecular Pharmaceutics

Our research in the field of poorly soluble drug compounds is largely based on drug dissolution and permeation studies to predict, for example, intestinal solubility. The research group also focuses on the development of sophisticated dosage forms that transform problematic compounds (poorly soluble, biological) into well-functioning oral medications.
We have a strong interest in understanding the molecular causes behind poor water solubility and have established computational science tools that guide formulation researchers in successful development pathways for a specific compound. We are currently developing a virtual intestine to enable the evaluation and optimization of new dosage forms on the computer instead of lengthy experiments or animal studies.
