Clinical Pharmacy

Our Research
Clinical pharmacy and pharmacotherapy aim to develop and promote rational and appropriate use of medications. The field is characterized by multiprofessional work, with the patient in focus
As medication therapy becomes more complex and medication costs increase, the need to ensure effective, safe, and cost-effective medication use grows. Pharmacists contribute to achieving this by working together with other professionals in the healthcare team. Our research aims to improve evidence-based care from a pharmaceutical perspective.
In our research unit, led by Professor Elisabet Nielsen, both therapy area-specific issues and clinical pharmaceutical work methods are evaluated, with the overall goal of achieving optimized medication use.
PLATINEA
PLATINEA is a national collaboration platform that combats antibiotic resistance by improving the availability and use of antibiotics, with our subproject focusing on optimizing and individualizing the dosing of existing antibiotics.

Precision dosing of medicines
Model-Informed Precision Dosing (MIPD) enables individualized drug treatment by combining blood sampling and modeling, leading to safer and more effective therapies – a method now used in clinical practice and further explored within a European research network.

ImpactCare
Inappropriate medication use during care transitions poses a major risk for older adults with multiple illnesses. The ImpactCare project strengthens the flow of medication information at hospital discharge to improve patient safety and reduce preventable harm.
