Between 1 and 4 October, the Faculty of Science and Technology will receive external review panels from all over the world as part of the research evaluation Q&R24. The programme includes interviews with departments and research programmes.

Work on the evaluation of research and research environments at the Faculty is in full swing. The aim of Q&R is to improve the Faculty in the long term in four aspects:

  • Research quality, through self-reflection, prioritisation and external feedback

  • Collegial culture, through broad participation in discussions in research programmes and departments

  • Understanding how the Faculty works, through collecting baseline data and sharing good practice

  • Use of resources, through prioritisation of plans at programme and department level and support based on plans and self-reflection

During the faculty visit, the seven assessment panels will evaluate baseline data and self-evaluations and assess the quality of ongoing research. They will also interview faculty departments and research programmes, including to identify opportunities and development proposals for future initiatives and organisational changes.

Interviews and documentation

The review panels will meet and interview representatives from research programmes, departments and junior researchers, with subsequent documentation in reports. On Friday 4 October, the panels will participate in a final meeting with faculty management, all chairs and hosts.

Following the visit, the panels will provide the Faculty with final written reports with recommendations to improve the quality of research. These reports are expected in October.

The results of the university-wide Q&R evaluation will then be presented at a university-wide conference in May 2025.
