Channels for communication with students

Several channels are available for communicating with students. The principal channels are listed here.

The Student Gateway – www.uu.se/student – is the hub for communicating with students at Uppsala University.
The Student Gateway is intended to help students do things in the right way when starting their studies and to be a one-stop gateway for services and information making up the student’s digital environment.

Contact the Student Affairs and Academic Registry Division at utbildningsinfo@uu.se if you have questions.

The faculty page is the place to publish information that applies at faculty level.

There are noticeboards and digital information screens in many buildings and several of the University’s campus areas. They are suitable for short messages and are effective channels when the purpose is to draw attention to events and happenings at the University or a certain campus area, for example. They provide a good opportunity to refer to more detailed information on the Student Gateway or elsewhere.

Digital advertising in social media and on online platforms can be a way to give visibility to events and other information designed for students.

The University has procured a digital media agency that can help you with advertising.

Posters, leaflets, tabletop notices, etc. can remind and alert people to important deadlines, new guidelines, changes or ongoing initiatives.

From a sustainability perspective, printed material should be used sparingly and after due consideration.

A face-to-face meeting is often an effective channel for communication and spreading information. Face-to-face meetings are a chance to convey specific messages. Visits, fairs, events, open seminars, etc. can enable the intended target group to participate in person and experience the University’s activities.

Personal meetings are often the best and most important channel when establishing new relationships or in communication concerning a student’s life and everyday situation. Face-to-face meetings create interaction, and make it possible to avoid misunderstandings and to ask and answer questions that may arise. Virtual meetings on Zoom, for example, are a good alternative for simpler information meetings.

When used correctly, email is an effective direct channel. Email should be used in a well-considered manner and with a clear purpose to minimise the influx.
