Messingers grupp

Förstå mekanismen för vattenoxidation i fotosyntes, och utveckla artificiella katalysatorer för vattenoxidation av vanligt förekommande ämnen i naturen.
Vår forskning
Forskningen i Messingers grupp fokuserar på förståelse av mekanismen hos fotosyntetisk vattenoxidation, samt utvecklingen av artificiell fotosyntes för vattenoxidation, där enbart vanligt förekommande grundämnen används. För att uppnå molekylär förståelse studerar vi dessa processer med en bred uppsättning av biofysiska tekniker, såsom membraningång-masspektrometri, EPR, röntgenspektroskopi, periodisk femtosekundröntgenkristallografi samt neutrondiffraktion. Vi utvecklar även katalysatorer för elektrokemisk spjälkning av vatten till vätgas, och reduktion av kväve till ammoniak.
