The Division of Plant Ecology and Evolution offers graduate research programs in Plant Ecology and in Evolutionary Functional Genomics. We are also responsible for undergraduate education in ecology, evolution, genetics and genomics.
Our research is conducted in a number of research groups. In our research, we analyse the structure and dynamics of plant populations and communities, from genes to ecosystems. Several fields of research are represented including plant evolutionary ecology, population and community ecology, population genetics, genomics, and conservation biology. Basic research dominates, but there are also applied projects seeking to determine the consequences of changes in land use, and other human-induced changes of the environment, and projects focusing on the conservation of economically and medicinally important tree species.
