Symposium: Sexual health as an integral part of cancer care and rehabilitation

Problems related to sexuality and intimacy are common after cancer treatment. Despite their significant impact on quality of life, these issues often receive insufficient attention in healthcare. The research group Fex-Can will host a syposium 3-4 March 2026 to highlight the challenges and solutions related to sexual health and cancer.

Programme
The key themes for the symposium are:
- The impact of cancer on sexual health and intimate relationships
- Interventions to improve sexual health after cancer
- Communication about sexual health in cancer care
- Norms and sexuality
The Tuesday program has a primarily research-oriented focus and will be held entirely in English, while the Wednesday program focuses more on practical aspects of discussing sexual health with patients and will be held in Swedish.

About the organizers
The symposium is organized by the research group Fertility and Sexuality following Cancer (Fex-Can) at Uppsala University and Umeå University. The group has extensive experience in research on sexual health following cancer.
