Project description

The Hässelby-Vällingby District Administration works to ensure that all children and young people have meaningful leisure time and aims to create safety, participation, and equality. A wide range of fun recreational activities are offered in the district, with a vibrant community life.

The project "Strengthening Protective Factors for Newly Arrived Families in Hässelby-Vällingby", co-financed by the European Union through the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (AMIF), aims to reduce the risk of criminality among newly arrived children and young people through early intervention with parental support and leisure activities. Together, we will develop methods to reach newly arrived families early with measures that strengthen protective factors for children, such as parental support programs for adults and guidance for children and young people to participate in adult-led recreational activities.

Through collaboration between the district administration and SHIS Bostäder, a new platform for early interventions within the project is being created. At CHAP, we will conduct ongoing research and evaluation of the project’s processes and measures. We are also leading a co-creation module where newly arrived young people are invited to influence the project and research by participating in a reference group.

From CHAP, Elin Inge, Tobias Haglöf, and Maissa Al-Adhami are working on the project, which runs from 2025 to mid-2027. Feel free to contact Elin Inge if you have any questions about the project.
