Grants and prizes in the field of science and technology:

Wendi Guo, postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, has been awarded a postdoctoral grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. This is the first call for applications since Uppsala University started its collaboration with the foundation.

Andrea Benediktsdottir, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry – BMC, has received the Royal Society of Sciences at Uppsala's Benzelius Award for outstanding and multidisciplinary contributions to antibiotic research and development. Sara Florisson, researcher at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has also been awarded the Benzelius Award, in the Technology and Economics Class, for outstanding studies of the hygro-mechanical properties of wood materials.

Two researchers from the Faculty of Science and Technology have been awarded the 2026 Thuréus Prizes by the Royal Society of Sciences at Uppsala: Fabien Burki, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Organismal Biology, for groundbreaking studies of the diversity and evolution of eukaryotic cells; and Per Eklund, Professor at the Department of Chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, for outstanding research in materials chemistry, particularly the synthesis and characterization of MAX phases and the development of novel thermoelectric materials.

The 2026 Bergstedt Prize from the Royal Society of Sciences at Uppsala has been awarded to Christian Glaser, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, for innovative and internationally recognized frontline contributions to the radio detection of ultra-high-energy neutrinos.

Chao Zhang, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, has received the 2026 Arrhenius Plaque from the Swedish Chemical Society.

Giuliano Di Baldassarre, Professor in Hydrology and Environmental Analysis at the Department of Earth Sciences, and an affiliated professor at the Uppsala University Conflicting Objectives Research Nexus (UUniCORN), as well as a UNESCO professor, has been awarded the Rudbeck Medal of Uppsala University.

Sascha Ott, Professor at the Department of Chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, has been awarded the 2026 Ulla and Stig Holmquist Scientific Prize in Organic Chemistry.
