The BUP Student Conference took place at Tallinn University on 23-26 April and one of the main program points was the Students' Parliament. The attending students used their voices and elected two new Student Representatives for the BUP International Board. The students elected were Meri Poghosyan from Kaunas University of Technology and Agnė Žiogaitė from Mykolas Romeris University.

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) has two student representatives on the International Board. The representatives are elected by democratic vote in the Students' Parliament, which is held during the Student Conference. The new representatives have different mandates, as to overlap with the selection of one new representative at next year's conference. Meri Poghosyan has a mandate until 2026 and Agnė Žiogaitė's mandate is until 2027.

Here is a short presentation as well as Meri Poghosyans thoughts about the role as a BUP Student Representative:

”I study Chemical Engineering at Kaunas University of Technology. I am grateful to be elected as a new BUP Student Representative.

I believe the role of a BUP Student Representative is crucial to ensure the students’ perspectives are taken into account. Moreover, making sure students are supported by having a fellow student in place to reach out to if they need help or have questions.

I hope to help build a strong community, connecting students from different countries across the Baltic Sea Region. This is a chance for me to both learn and contribute actively to the community.”

Here is a short presentation as well as Agnė Žiogaitės thoughts about the role as a BUP Student Representative:

”I'm a psychology student who values connection, shared purpose, and the potential to drive positive change.

I’m truly honoured to have been elected as one of the BUP Student Representatives. This role is a unique opportunity to work across cultures and disciplines, and I’m excited to contribute to the ongoing development of the BUP network.

I look forward to supporting student initiatives, strengthening our international community, and helping turn great ideas into real impact. It’s a privilege to be part of something that connects people through shared values and a vision for a more sustainable future.”

Both Meri and Agnė will attend their first board meetings in June. If you want to contact them you can find their contact information on the Student Representative page.
