The Baltic University Programme's Coordinating Secretariat now welcomes applications for the position of intern during autumn 2026. The intern will work with administrative tasks, coordinating projects and organising events and trainings for researchers, teachers and students.

The Secretariat coordinates the Programme with nearly 120 participating universities in the Baltic Sea Region, cooperating for education and research in Sustainable Development and Democracy. Offering internships is one way that the BUP strives towards supporting students in their first career steps.

The BUP Coordinating Secretariat is placed at Uppsala University. The City of Uppsala, one of the oldest cities in Sweden, has a lot of attractions and beautiful places. It is also situated close to Stockholm (70 km) and the international airport Arlanda (35 km).

Requirements

The applicant should be enrolled at one of the BUP’s participating universities. Since the work of The Baltic University Programme is structured around 10 BUP themes related to sustainable development, it is required that the applicant has knowledge of and an interest in the field of sustainable development.

The following should be included in the application:

  • A CV – a summary of educational and work experience
  • A one-page short motivation letter that includes answers to the following questions:
Why are you interested in The Baltic University Programme?
What is your experience and interest in the Baltic Sea Region?
Which tasks/areas of interest would you prefer to work with at the BUP Secretariat?
How would you like to contribute to the programme?
Would the internship be a part of your studies/degree programme?
During which time period would you prefer to be an intern? And would this be on a full-time or part-time basis? (both are acceptable)

Applications should be sent to the BUP Project coordinator, Lyudmyla Babak, via lyudmyla.babak@balticuniv.uu.se

The period, duration and workload of the internship will be defined individually depending on the intern's interests and skills. Recruitment will be ongoing and the position may be filled before the application deadline. The last day to apply for the role is 1 May 2026.

Conditions of the BUP internship

The Baltic University Programme provides a workplace at the Secretariat office in Uppsala as well as work management during the internship time. As the BUP is an international programme, the working language is English.

The internship is unpaid and the intern also needs to cover travel, accommodation and their own living costs.

We encourage applicants outside of Sweden to turn to their local Erasmus offices to investigate the opportunities for receiving traineeship grants.
