New BUP Student Representatives

At the BUP Student Conference in Lund, held on 9-12 June, the participants chose two new Student Representatives. The election took place during the Students' Parliament, where the participants at the conference had the opportunity to run as candidates. The students elected were Yeva Sychova from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Elin Björninen from Södertörn University.
The Baltic University Programme (BUP) has two student representatives on the International Board. The representatives are elected by democratic vote in the Students' Parliament, which is held as a part of the Student Conference. The new representatives have different mandates, which overlap with the selection of one new representative at next year's conference. Yeva Sychova has a mandate until 2027, and Elin Björninen's mandate is until 2028.

Here is a short presentation as well as Yeva Sychova's thoughts about the new role as a BUP Student Representative:
”I am currently finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Religion Studies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and I am very much looking forward to beginning my Master’s program in Asian Studies at Lund University this August.
As a BUP Student Representative, my greatest hope is to be a supportive, reliable, and accessible voice for our entire student community. I want to help us all feel more connected by making our digital spaces welcoming and easy to use. I am deeply committed to fostering harmonious cross-cultural dialogue and providing practical support so that students across the Baltic Sea Region can easily collaborate on sustainability initiatives that care for our shared future.”

”I am a bachelor’s student in Sustainability Strategies and Environmental Science at Södertörn University.
As a student representative, I aim to strengthen the connection between students and sustainability research. My focus is on supporting students in building a collaborative network by amplifying student voices and contributing to initiatives that connect education, research, and sustainable development.”
